Follow Rt 9 about 7 or 8 miles (you will go through a roundabout - stay on Rt 9) until you get to the traffic light in Kinderhook (4 way intersection). Turn left at the light and then a right after the library. Beginning in May 2007 Forever Home will begin Micro-Chipping all of our available Greyhounds. We feel it is an important and valuable tool to insure their safety. We will also be offering low cost chipping to all of our clients who currently own Forever Home Greyhounds. The Micro Chipping will be by appointment or at specified adoption events. The cost to our current adoptive clients will be a very reasonable $10.00 per Greyhound which is less than 1/2 what your Vet is able to offer it for. Choosing a Vet to Care for Your Retired Racer
Vet Care Your choice of veterinarian is an important decision. Try to locate a vet who has worked with greyhounds. Greyhounds require only one fifth of the anesthesia that would be used on another dog of the same size. This is because they are lacking certain enzymes which break down anesthetic in their systems. It is very important that your vet knows this, as an overdose can be fatal. If you are unsure, ASK your Vet, or call Paula 518 261 7025 for a referral to a Greyhound safe Veterinarian ! Heartworm preventive medication should be used regularly. |
